It was a gorgeous summer day, I had one at camp and another in 8 hour rehearsals, so I was ‘out and about’ on a photo adventure.
I shot this photo in hazy skies with my iphone 4. I began the edit in snapseed. I cropped, brightened and center focused to create the blur. I then ran it through the ‘super fun happy’ filter (literally) in pic-tap-go. It enhanced the overall photo and created the perfect look to remember by ‘super fun happy’ day with! 🙂

I think that probably the best photographs I took during our vacation were out and about, down at Sidmouth Beach in Devon, at around 7 in the evening. Although it was overcast, it was still bright, and the light was clean, even, and pure. Adding to the perfection was the fact that at that time of day we had the beach totally to ourselves… truly a favourite day. With the tide so high, there wasn’t any sand exposed for feet to walk on, so we gingerly made our way down to the water on the rocks and pebbles.
This particular photograph was taken with my 50mm 1.4 lens, although I did find that my 70-200 f/2.8 was also an awesome lens to use that evening. It allowed me to take crisp, sharp photos from a distance, without seeming intrusive to the children, which leant itself to capturing some beautiful candid shots. My settings here were ISO 100, f/2.2, and shutter speed 1/400. Post processing in Lightroom 4 was minimal, I just increased the contrast and clarity a little.
